An Oregon man who was open carrying a handgun he bought last weekend was robbed of it at gunpoint just hours later.
William Coleman III, 21, was reportedly openly carrying his new Walther P22 semi-automatic while talking to his cousin early Saturday in Gresham. Around 2:10 a.m., a man allegedly approached him and asked for a cigarette. A moment later, he asked about the victim’s new gun purchase; as the man replied, suddenly the robber pulled a gun from his own waistband and said, “I like your gun, give it to me.”
The victim handed it over and the suspect fled.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned African American man, 6'1'' with a skinny build, about 19 to 23 years old. He was wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt and flip-flops.
