A true lady’s man in Texas pulled a gun on his ex-girlfriend, but accidentally shot his current girlfriend in the process.
According to reports, the man was hanging out with his girlfriend in his home when his ex-girlfriend unexpectedly decided to drop by. A verbal argument broke out, which quickly escalated when the man grabbed his firearm.
The man then tried to point his gun at the ex-girlfriend, but his current girlfriend attempted to stop him from threatening her. The gun went off, striking the current girlfriend in her chest. She was transported to the San Antonio Military Medical Center, where she went from critical condition to stable condition.
The couple’s relationship, however, might still be in critical condition.
Police believe the shooting was unintentional, but they arrested the man nonetheless. They plan to charge him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. They might even have grounds for charging him with attempted murder or a similar crime for attempting to point the gun at his ex-girlfriend.
It is unfortunate that the gun owner could face jail time for making such a simple mistake. However, the state cannot overlook the man’s callous disregard for the safety of those around him. In any event, the gun owner was not the true victim in this story.
The poor girlfriend gets to wake up on a hospital bed with a bullet wound, a boyfriend in jail and a presumably smug romantic rival who managed to come out of the confrontation unscathed. Will she forgive her boyfriend for shooting her in the chest and stand by him as he goes to trial? Or did this Texas gun owner trade away one bullet for a new ex-girlfriend?
