After Georgia man Larry McElroy shot an armadillo with a 9mm pistol, the bullet ricocheted off the animal’s armor and hit McElroy’s mother-in-law.

McElroy shot at the animal, but the bullet ricocheted off the animal's armor, Metro reports. The bullet then reportedly hit a fence, traveled through the back of Carol Johnson's caravan, and struck her in the back. Johnson is McElroy's mother-in-law.

McElroy was 100 yards away from the home at the time of the shooting, according to police.

Though the armadillo died in the process, the 74-year-old woman is allegedly making a full recovery.
