The executive vice president of the conservative Christian group The Family Research Council predicts that, during the Second Coming, Jesus Christ will be packing an AR-15, and all of His followers should go out and get one.
Jerry Boykin, a retired Army Lieutenant General, announced at the Pro-Family Legislators Conference in Dallas, Texas, that Jesus won’t have the “sharp sword” described in Revelation 19.
"I've checked this out – I believe that sword he'll be carrying when he comes back is an AR-15," Boykin said.
Much of the audience laughed at his suggestion.

The Bible phrase Boykin refers to is one of the most controversial, where Jesus stated, “I came not to bring peace but to bring a sword.”
"Now I want you to think about this: where did the Second Amendment come from?" Boykin said. "From the Founding Fathers, it's in the Constitution. Well, yeah, I know that. But where did the whole concept come from? It came from Jesus when He said to His disciples 'now, if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."
Boykin also insisted that the Bible is fact, not something that needs to be interpreted.
"I know, everybody says that was a metaphor," he said. "It was not a metaphor! And the sword today is an AR-15, so if you don't have one, go get one. You're supposed to have one. It's biblical."
