Home Invasion Victim Fights Back Against Trio Of Robbers

A trio of home invaders received a huge surprise when they returned to the home of the couple they had left tied-up inside.

The three men reportedly knocked on the door of a Lakewood, Washington, home while the 66-year-old wife was in the bath. The husband, 62, answered the door but tried to shut it when he realized he did not know the three men on his doorstep.

The husband could not compete with the three men, armed with a gun and knife, and he was overpowered, reports The Blaze.

The alleged robbers beat the husband to the point that he required stitches, and cut his wife’s hand. They then tied the couple up and ransacked the house for valuables to steal.

It was when the trio left the house for a moment that they made their gravest mistake.

The husband managed to free himself from his restraints and lock the front door. He and his wife then went to their bedroom and locked that door as well.

The robbers fired a shot as they broke in the front door. At this time the husband retrieved his own gun from a lock box.

When two of the robbers forced the bedroom door open, the husband opened fired. Two shots were fired, and police believe one of the robbers was hit.

The News Tribune reports that an hour or so later a man was found with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of an apartment complex. It is believed that man, 19-year-old Taijon Voorhees, was allegedly one of the robbers.

Police records state the other members of the trio dumped his body once he died.

Police arrested 19-year-old Duprea Wilson and have charged him with 12 felonies, including first-degree manslaughter, robbery, kidnapping, and assault. Wilson has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Jewelry was found on his person when he was arrested that is believed to have belonged to the home-invasion victims.

Wilson was denied bail of $3 million and ordered to jail after deputy prosecutor Neil Horibe called him a “danger to the community.”

Wilson was only recently released from prison after serving time for burglary, and police say he is a well-known gang member.

The third robber has not been apprehended by police.
