Gun Owners of America Claims Obamacare will "Take Away Your Guns"
Larry Pratt, head of the Religious Right group 'Gun Owners of America,' recently appeared on VCY America’s Crosstalk radio show where he claimed that Obamacare would be used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to take away guns from law-abiding Americans, reports RightWingWatch.org.
Pratt said: "[Obamacare] says that all of our medical records are available to be pawed through by bureaucrats somewhere in Washington, looking for a reason to disenfranchise gun owners, to say: ‘Oh you have a medical diagnosis that means you might be a danger to yourself or others so we’re going to come and knock on the door for the BATF to take away your guns.’"
There is a law that screens out people, such as the mentally ill, through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System to prevent them from purchasing guns. However, this law was signed by President Bush.

With the McDonald and the
With the McDonald and the Heller cases, there is no way Obama can restrict reasonable gun ownership. This issue is moot.
The definition of reasonable
The definition of reasonable in the eye of a leftist and the eye of a reasonable person are mutually exclusive.
Right.... unless you forgot,
Right.... unless you forgot, SCOTUS is majority conservative at the moment. The "reasonable" test is something spelled out in Supreme court rulings. For gun ownership, that would be:
Law abiding Not mentally ill Not involved in a violent domestic dispute
Seems pretty simple to me. Mental illness is pretty well defined as well, meaning having competence issues and under active treatment.
Not really, since the
Not really, since the government now or soon will have access to your medical records, with out needing a warrant, with an Executive Order the president can get BATFE to start looking for reasons to deny people their right to self defence.
Argon; so you are basically
Argon; so you are basically saying that you actually WANT mentally/emotionally unstable people to have legal access to firearms?
That is a damned irresponsible attitude.
Gun ownership is a right, but that right comes with a very real responsibility. It means that we are to use those firearms in a safe and respectful way that does no harm to innocent people.....or perhaps you find no problem with incidents like happened in Denver or Columbine? I imagine that even you have a problem with allowing those sorts of people to have weapons where they can be allowed to do harm to others.
The insanity principle is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. The far right, the far left, vegans, creationists and other extremists believe in the insanity principle, religiously.
Did you read what I wrote?
Did you read what I wrote? "Reasonable Gun Ownership." The unfortunate part is that at least some of the recent mass shootings could have been prevented if people had been put into the screening system as mentally ill.
The problem is that the BATFE
The problem is that the BATFE can now "go fishing" for names to put on lists like the "no fly" list and prevent people who had a problem with, say, depression, 20 years ago from buying a firearm to protect themselves (or others) today. Bureaucrats constantly add things to laws that they think should be part of the law or misinterpret their role in the scheme of things and think they are supposed to prevent the issuing of permits and such instead of enabling one to get and comply with proper proceedures and laws.
Worse, many bureaucrats are confused by the laws and Executive Orders that are frequently conflicting.

"However"??? LOL!! Yeah...that's not a "real" law...it was Bush's...WTF!!
