A 3-year-old boy was accidentally shot by a 4-year-old boy in Lake Stevens, Wash., on Friday night.

According to KIRO, the 3-year-old's father is Jon Holzwarth, who works in the IT security and firearms industries (video below).

The shooting reportedly happened inside Holzwarth's condo.

Snohomish County deputies say that Holzwarth told them that he heard a loud noise and forced open a locked door to a bedroom where his son and a neighbor's 4-year-old grandson were playing.

Holzwarth's son, who was shot in the mouth, was taken to the Providence Everett Medical Center and then transferred to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Holzwarth's front door has a sign that states: "We don't dial 9-1-1" and includes a metal cutout in the shape of a gun.

According to the Daily Mail, there were also gun stickers on Holzwarth's jeep, one of which read: "My Gun Family."

Holzwarth opposed Washington State gun safety ballot initiative, I-594, and supported allowing guns in state parks.

According to the Seattle Times, Holzwarth told the Snohomish County Council in 2010, "When seconds count and police are minutes away, you need people like me who are mentally stable and know how to handle a gun. We need to be out there, in your park, in your theater, in your stadium."

Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies say the shooting was accidental, but are still investigating the incident.
