A 71-year-old Florida man was arrested for allegedly shooting his 32-year-old son in the neck while he tried to flee a family fight on a riding lawn mower.
Marshall H. Harmon was charged with aggravated battery Friday and released from Escambia County Jail Monday.
Police said Harmon was arguing with his son when the 32-year-old got on a riding lawn mower to escape. He drove the mower down a county road. Harmon allegedly got into his pickup truck and followed him.
When he caught up to his son, Harmon fired two shots, police claim.
His son was hit once in the neck and taken to a local hospital. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
Police say they are not sure if Harmon meant to shoot his son. The gun may have gone off, Escambia County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Andrew Hobbs said.
