Boy, 13, Shot and Killed in Hotel Room by Man in Nearby Room, Say Police

Nathan Clark, 13, was recently shot and killed in a Raleigh. N.C., hotel room after Randall Vater, who was in another room, accidentally fired a gun, say police.

Clark was in town for the Capital Area Soccer League tournament and staying at a Comfort Suites hotel, noted MyFox8.com.

On Friday night, Vater allegedly fired a gun and the bullet went through the wall and hit Clark, who played soccer for the North Carolina Fusion.

According to RawStory.com, a woman in Clark's room called 911 and said he was bleeding from the back of his head.

“I don’t know if he hit his head or something,” the woman told 911. She added that family members tried to resuscitate Clark, but were not able to.

Clark's team pulled out of the tournament.

Vater was charged with possession of a gun by a convicted felon and involuntary manslaughter. He is being held at the Wake County Detention Center.

According to news reports, Vater was previously in prison for charges that included violating a restraining order, making threats and hit-and-run.
