2011 Smashes Sales Record for Guns
This was a banner year for guns -- 2011 is set to smash the record for gun sales.
The record for a single year was set just last year, when the FBI reported that 14,409,616 background checks were requested. In 2011 that figure will top 16 million. FBI spokesman Steve Fischer said just 1.3% of background checks result in denial of a weapon.
With a week left in December, the FBI said the monthly record has already been broken, and that was only set last month when 1,534,414 background checks were requested from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
CNN writes:
Two days before Christmas, NICS ran 102,222 background checks, which was the second-busiest day in history. The one-day record was set this year on Black Friday, the big shopping day following Thanksgiving, with 129,166 searches. By comparison, the previous one-day high was set November 28, 2008, when gun dealers made slightly less than 98,000 requests for background searches.
The NRA said more people are flocking to guns for self defense.
"I think there's an increased realization that when something bad occurs, it's going to be between them and the criminal," NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam told CNN.
However the Brady Campaign said the number of people owning guns is actually going down.
"The research we've seen indicates fewer and fewer people are owning more and more guns," said spokeswoman Caroline Brewer. "All the trends indicate the number of Americans who own guns has declined."
She added, "It would appear because of fear-mongering by the NRA since (President Barack) Obama's election that people are adding more guns to their arsenals out of fear Obama and the Democrats will take away their guns, which is absurd."

- a. GUN OWNERS know about Obamas PREVIOUS GUN VOTING RECORD PRIOR TO BECOMING PRESIDENT. You Obama drones can whimper about his not being antigun, but his VOTING RECORD HISTORY PROVES that he IS against civilian arms. YOu dont have to agree, but its the FACT. He CANT take our guns away because the LAW of this land DOES NOT ALLOW him to. Simple as that.
- b. NEW gun owners are exploding in numbers. Sorry you anti gun whackjobs but its a FACT. I know probably a dozen people who NEVER owned a gun before who have bought guns and gotten carry permits. They will tell you there are TWO reasons for this....one being Obama's antigun VOTING RECORD PRIOR TO BECOMING PRESIDENT....the second being CRIME and massive layoffs of law enforcement because of budget issues.
- c. PREVIOUS gun owners are also buying guns for the same reason...the budget is killing many local PD's and they are laying off LEO's by the hundreds and thousands leaving US to have to defend ourselves and our families.

Today at 51 yrs old I just
Today at 51 yrs old I just bought my first firearms, as I exited the gun shop I felt proud to be an American. I exercised my right to bear arms, my right to protect myself and family, my RIGHTS period.
The sales person who sold me the guns informed me over 2,000,000 guns were sold in December 2011, breaking all records. I ask him why he thought there was this type of activity. He replied " People think it could start gettin crazy real fast real soon".
For the first time in my life I am now armed, beyond my fist and knuckles. I was compelled to do so.

No, you exercised your right to KEEP arms, to BEAR arms is a whole new ballgame! I hope you fully understand that if you so choose to bear arms you are going to be undertaking a HUGE responsibility!
In no way am I trying to discourage you to BEAR arms! I truly hope you will; providing you have the right characteristics to do so, but you must think that one through, at great length and fully.
Everyone has this right, but few who choose to carry it out fully understand the responsibilities and possible consequences of doing so. Be sure you are one of us few; if you don’t understand what I am trying to tell you without me just coming right out and saying it you are probably not quite ready to start “packing” just yet.
Find someone who has done this for a long time, do you know an officer of the law or a friend who has packed for a long time? If so have a private and personal one on one with them, ask them what I mean. Some things you need to learn from someone you trust.
I wish you luck, safety and that you become skilled with this, not just with your aim but with your mind.

Roger that Truth for Life -- and congratulations. I don't know what type of weapon you purchased, but Google around for a good price on ammunition and practice. I would recommend a concealed carry course and complete knowledge of the laws and use of deadly force to go with that practice. Learn to disassemble and clean your weapon and get hardwired to its use -- as if it was an extension of yourself. Enjoy.

In the early 1900’s there are several historical instances of leaders that insisted on the disarmament of their people. Their names should be familiar to you: Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler. All of these men enforced disarmament on their people. All of them are known as some of the most sinister men in history. Notably, Hitler could never have achieved as much as he did without civilian disarmament. He disarmed his people, used the Hitler Youth program to brainwash the young, and “cleansed” his nation, as well as conquered territories of the “undesirables,” whom he referred to as “untermensch” or subhuman. The unarmed civilians were an easy target for his armies, and the SS was used to intimidate and control other Germans and prevent dissension. In retrospect, people lament the atrocities that happened under Hitler, but the German people then never saw it coming. They had been seduced by a charismatic leader, who convinced (and when necessary coerced) them to give up their weapons. The Nazi reign of terror began with false news reports on the Jews, Bohemians and Gypsies who were said to be arming themselves to overthrow the "New World Order" and Hitler demanded that all good people register their guns so that they wouldn't fall into the hands of "terrorists and madmen". Right wing fanatics of the "Old Order" who protested firearms registration were arrested by the S.S. and put in jail for "fomenting hatred against the Government of the German people". Then the Reichstag (government building) was blown up and Hitler ram-rodded an "Emergency Anti-Terrorist Act" through Parliament that gave the Gestapo extraordinary powers. The leader then declared that for the well-being of the German people, all private firearms were to be confiscated by the Gestapo and the Wermotten (federal law enforcement and military). When several local ministers spoke out against these atrocities, they were imprisoned and never seen again. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated’ people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

If you read any very recent history, like say the past 3 years, you'll find that federal gun laws have loosened under Obama at virtually every opportunity. Gun sales are up because people like you don't bother fact checking the propaganda mailed to you by the NRA and posted on crazy right wing sites. So you actually believe your rights are being restricted so you buy up a stockpile of guns.

Perhaps keeping a government data base of semiauto rifle sales in all of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas -- a rather large swath of the U.S. when you look at the map -- was a more "in-your-face" gun law. Further, you know that he will lay low, as he told Sarah Brady and his anti-2nd Amendment supporters, until "after" the elections.
Finally, Hitler never "loosened" gun laws for "anybody." A few people of means or privilege managed to squirrel away a pistol or shotgun without getting caught, but if the "Thousand Year Reich" has lasted more than the 12-13 years that it did, Hitler and his police state thugs would have gotten them too. The same held true for all of the occupied countries and regions.

His picks for the Supreme Court are anti gun rights, and proved it, this is more dangerous to our rights than any law he might have signed. His picks for heads of Government agencies are all anti gun rights. His Executive Orders are anti gun rights, and the health care bill is anti gun owner. Read it, then ask yourself why BATFE is allowed to look at your medical records with out a judge involved.

Wonder how he would explain me? I don’t belong to the NRA or ANY other group; religious group, political group or any other type. I don’t read anyone’s “propaganda” from anywhere. In what ways have your gun rights been further restricted under Obama? The rhetoric from pro-gun groups has ramped up dramatically since Obama was elected. The repeated claim is that Obama's going to take your guns away. At the same time gun sales have spiked. Yet, the only laws passed under Obama related to guns have actually loosened restrictions. Yes, you're right I'll toss out facts and figures. Know why? Because they're FACTS. I actually make informed decisions based on facts rather than running strictly on gut. You say I'm "immovable". Yes, "NOT BE INFRINGED" means there can be no limitations to your right to keep arms. If you wanted to take a literal interpretation that would mean anybody could buy any weapon they want. Convicted felons could buy bazooka's. Gangs could buy fully automatic machine guns. Wealthy people could hire a private army and travel in tanks. That is what "NOT BE INFRINGED" means. Thankfully, we have some sensible gun laws and virtually everyone agrees that some infringing is a good thing (convicted felons can't buy guns in most places) so the question isn't whether we're allowed to infringe on your right to carry a gun, we all agree we're allowed, but how much infringement is allowed.
BTW, Czar is just another word for adviser. Every president since Nixon has had them and every president before him had them under a different name. Even Reagan had several czar's. Czars are just advisers. They don't make policy and they don't write laws.

Yes "Every terrible weapon of the soldier." Remember, many of the cannon used by the colonial army were personal property, as in, owned by some person. That is what "NOT BE INFRINGED" means.

Story from a Kansas State Highway Patrol officer : I made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding on U.S. 166 Eastbound at Mile Marker 73 just East of Sedan , KS. I asked for her driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. The lady took out the required information and handed it to me. In with the cards I was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age) to see she had a conceal carry permit. I looked at her and ask if she had a weapon in her possession at this time. She responded that she indeed had a .45 automatic in her glove box. Something---body language, or the way she said it---made me want to ask if she had any other firearms. She did admit to also having a 9mm Glock in her center console. Now I had to ask one more time if that was all. She responded once again that she did have just one more, a .38 special in her purse. I then asked her what was she so afraid of. She looked me right in the eye and said, "Not a fucking thing!"

Since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: 1) Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent. 2) Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent. 3) Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! 4) In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! 5) While Australian figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. 6) There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it. 7) You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.The story of the Katrina disaster area survivors disagrees. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, gangs, thieves, looters and vandals overran New Orleans, as well as the other affected areas. To defend themselves, the residents banded together to form militia groups. The police and national guard went in, with orders to disarm everyone. They entered the homes of local residents at gunpoint, demanding the weapons. Sadly, these people surrendered their weapons, and were then left defenseless as the police and national guard went away. Once they were gone, the gangs and looters came back. The disarmed people were unable to defend themselves. Many were robbed. Some were killed.

I have been following all these posts on gun rights for a while now, I think it’s starting to “get to me” about the absurdity of it all.
People cannot understand the second amendment DEFINES the United States; it is what made us what we are and is meant to keep us free. It is simple in its beauty and concept.
I have often felt there must be a simple way to settle this matter, and there is, respect our Constitution accept it for what it is. That simple you don’t HAVE to keep and bear arms if you don’t want to.
Now after reading your post I got the funniest idea of all! Yes its hilarious, it will never happen and would be a logistic nightmare but it sure was fun to think about!
Here is what happened: You started talking about Australia and I got thinking “at first wasn’t this place a penal colony for the British empire?” (You can probably see where this is going)….
Can’t we somehow pass a law that gives everyone who does NOT believe in the second amendment a free one way ticket to Australia? I mean they would have to agree to give up their US citizenship as part of the agreement, (don’t want em coming back you know).....
Wouldn’t this solve both sides of the issue? They get to live in a country free of weapons and we get to live in a country where we can carry them if we want! Sounds win/win to me! And eventually we could retrain our young in the constitution and social responsibility like we used to and the crime rate would go down, because most of the criminals would be shot by then. (Or we could just ship em over too)...

Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City, N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician’s home county said. The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening. The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn’t hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim. It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine. But this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.
