A 20-year-old man in Houston says he was left with no choice when he opened fire and ultimately killed a robber who was trying to steal from his family’s convenience store.
Reports say that 20-year-old Usman Seth was working at his family’s convenience store on Friday night when a robber entered the store with a shotgun. The man threatened Seth’s younger sister at the cash register, and at that moment, Seth says knew he had to do something to protect her from harm, so he grabbed a gun and shot the robber.
“He was saying, 'I'm going to kill you if you move,'" Seth recounted. "I didn't have any other option for protecting my family, so I starting shooting at him. I kept warning him, 'Drop your gun,' but he was not listening. He tried to shoot us and I had to shoot back.”
When police arrived at the scene, the man who attempted to rob the store was dead. Seth says this is not the first time that their store has been robbed, and reports say that following the incident, the robber’s brother came to the store threatening to kill them.
“We are continuously getting threats from them,” Seth’s father told the Houston Chronicle.
Still, Seth says he knows that if something happens to the store again, he has to be prepared.
“I'm ready for them, if they try that stupid thing again,” Seth said.
