A student at Lehman High School in Kyle, Texas, asked someone for some "gum," but another student thought the first student said "gun," causing a scare on Oct. 14.
Officials at the school investigated the gum/gun issue, but there was no mention of police in a report by KVUE.
Principal Michelle Chae told parents in a letter that the school was able to "hold students in their extended class periods to investigate the concern with little to no disruption to their schedule," reports Hays Free Press.
Chae added: "Fortunately, in this case, it was a misunderstanding and there was no threat to our school or need to conduct a lockdown."
