Gun Rights Activist Adam Kokesh Loads Shotgun in D.C., Committing Four Felonies (Video)
Libertarian activist Adam Kokesh canceled his plans to hold a July Fourth armed march in Washington D.C., where open carry of a firearm is illegal. Instead, he filmed himself loading a shotgun in Washington’s Freedom Plaza and committed at least four felonies by doing so.
Kokesh, who admits to a history of mental instability and post-traumatic stress disorder, made a 23-second video in which he loads a 12-gauge shotgun.
On camera, he states, “We will not be silent. We will not obey. We will not allow our government to destroy our humanity. We are the final American revolution. See you next Independence Day.”
Posted to YouTube, the video is titled “Open Carry March on DC a Success,” however Kokesh is the only one “marching.” It has nearly 160,000 views.
Firearms are not allowed outside of private residences in D.C. The incident is currently under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Park Police. It is unclear whether any charges are expected to be filed against him.
His original armed march from Virginia to D.C. was canceled because of resistance from law enforcement.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said in addition to violating laws of open carry and concealed-carry, no permits had been filed to hold the march. Lanier said Kokesh’s supporters better “know the rules of the game” before marching to D.C.
