ISIS is recruiting members as young as 13 from Germany, including girls.
Hans-Georg Maaßen, head of Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, told Rheinische Post at least 24 children have left Germany for the Middle East.
“The youngest was 13,” Maaßen said.
Some of the children were young girls that married men they met online who encouraged them to travel to Iraq and Syria, Maaßen added.

They traveled with “a romantic ideal of marrying a jihadist,” Maaßen said.
A total of 400 Germans have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join ISIS. Authorities report most are young, male, and poorly educated.
“The vast majority are from migration backgrounds,” Maaßen said.
Around 130 have returned to Germany.

Of the children who have joined ISIS, most were reported missing by their parents or discovered by foreign intelligence services, reports The Local.
Anyone who leaves Germany to join ISIS is not welcome to return, Inquisitr reports authorities as saying.
But German authorities have not said if children who return after joining ISIS will be welcomed back into the country or face charges for their involvement.
