Georgia School Headmaster Len McWilliams Gives Kids Day Off Because Of Nice Weather

| by

It’s not uncommon for bad weather to cause school to be closed for the day, but what about when it’s just too nice outside? One Georgia school headmaster took the opportunity to allow students to enjoy a day off simply because the weather was just too nice to pass up.

Len McWilliams is the headmaster of Calvary Christian School in Columbus, Ga. He’s retiring at the end of the year and he had made a promise to call off school for a positive reason, according to MSN. With the Friday forecast in the area projecting temperatures of 80 degrees, McWilliams delivered on his promise and closed school for the day.

"In the late 1980's, I was calling school off one winter day because of the terrible weather. The thought occurred to me that it would be great to call school off some day because it was too beautiful a day to go to school. I decided that some day before retiring I would do it," McWilliams told WRBL.

Families were encouraged to plan and enjoy a special day just having fun with each other.
