George Zimmerman is now blaming the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on the teenager’s parents.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, which was published on May 17, Zimmerman said Trayvon’s parents are the ones to blame for the boy’s 2012 death.

"They didn’t raise their son right," Zimmerman told the Daily Beast. "He attacked a complete stranger and attempted to kill him."

Zimmerman didn’t stop there. He went on to question Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin’s love for their own son.

"Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin did everything they could to capitalize on her son’s death," Zimmerman continued. "She was never a mother figure to him. Tracy Martin couldn’t have cared less about their son. He treated him like a dog without a leash."

Zimmerman was acquitted for the death of Trayvon Martin in 2013. He had followed the 17-year-old on Feb. 26, 2012, and called police because he thought the boy looked suspicious.

Zimmerman, who was the coordinator of a local neighborhood watch at the time, then got into an altercation with Trayvon and shot a 9 mm bullet into the teen’s chest.

"It is what was used to save my life from a near-death brutal attack by Trayvon Martin," Zimmerman said of the handgun. "If it was a stick or mace, it’s the one tool I had that prevented Trayvon from killing me."

Zimmerman made headlines in May for putting the gun he used to kill Trayvon up for sale. He was requesting $100,000 and said the gun was a "piece of American history," ABC News reported.

Zimmerman told the Daily Beast he wasn’t too concerned about how the auction made Martin’s parents feel.

“Sure I’m sorry for any parent that has lost a child,” Zimmerman added. “That being said, I also believe it’s their duty to have an internal dialogue to see what they should have done better and what they should have done appropriately.”
