Rep. Steve King (R-IA), on Thursday, pushed for his 'DOMA Limitation' amendment, on the 2013 defense funding bill, which would prohibit same sex couples from having wedding ceremonies at military facilities (video below).

Speaking on the House floor, Rep. King said that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) prohibited gay marriage ceromonies and he accused the Obama administration of trying to undermine “marriage between one man and one woman within our military ranks.”

Rep. King added: “The Defense of Marriage Act means this: Marriage means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word ‘spouse’ only refers to a member of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife. Pretty simple statute being contravened by the President of the United States as exercised through the Secretary of Defense.”

The Republicans like Steve

The Republicans like Steve King continue to divert attention from the fact that they have failed to pass a job creation bill or do anything to rebuild our nation's infrastructure, but wants to invade people's privacy including our military personnel, some of whom are LBGT. DADT was found to be illegal and unconstitutional. The military is now open to all people regardless of sexual orientation. Why would anyone waste good taxpayer money on a bill that is going to fail in the Senate and certainly be vetoed by the President. The age of discrimination against people is OVER, Mr. King. People who continue to fight a lost cause are only demonstrating their own narrow mindedness, intolerance and bigotry of others. People in positions of power should be setting the example, not acting like immature idiots (which we know so many of the T-Bagger Congressional folks are).
