Transgender Woman and Her Friend Attacked With a Plate at a New York Diner

After a cruel attack on a transgender woman at a diner in Astoria, Queens, police say they are actively searching for three suspects in connection to the incident.

Reports claim that on January 8, the transgender woman and a friend at Neptune Diner to eat when they got into a heated argument with two women who made disparaging comments towards them regarding being transgender.

The argument got heated and eventually turned violent. The 30-year-old transgender woman and her 32-year-old male friend were attacked by the two women with a plate, and once the suspects fled, the victims were taken to a local hospital to be treated for the injuries they sustained.

Now, Deputy Inspector Kevin Maloney, of the 114th Precinct, says that the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is heading the investigation. They are hoping to question the two women, along with another man, all of whom were seen on surveillance camera perpetrating the attack.
