Tea Party Hero Ben Carson: Support For Same-Sex Marriage Is Direct Attack On ‘God And His People’ (Video)

Retired neurosurgeon and conservative commentator Dr. Ben Carson claims changing the definition of marriage endangers “a fundamental pillar of our society” and “everything else in the Bible.”

Carson, who once compared same-sex marriage to pedophilia and bestiality on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, spoke at a meeting of the anti-LGBT group Illinois Family Institute (IFI) on Friday, according to Raw Story.

Carson said the Bible compared Jesus Christ’s relationship with his followers to marriage.

“Think about the implications of that,” Carson told the IFI. “When people come along and try to change the definition of marriage, they are directly attacking the relationship between God and his people.”

“And that’s the reason it’s so important for them to change the definition, because if you can get rid of that, you can get rid of everything else in the Bible too,” Carson warned.

He said the “secular progressive movement” was like a “new group of mathematicians who come along and say, ‘Two plus two is five.’”

He said that message is thrust upon those who don't feel the same way.

“The new ones say, ‘If it’s not five for you, you’re a mathophobe.’”

“We just have to continue to make it clear because they want to say that anybody who doesn’t believe what they believe is a hater,” he said.

“I was amused how they tried to paint me as a homophobe,” he added. “They came out with all guns blasting. It was funny, it had the Chick-fil-A effect ... They realized they were actually doing me a favor so they stopped.”

Carson gained notoriety for being outspoken against Obamacare. In a guest editorial for Forbes this week, he said the Patient Protection in Affordable Care Act would reverse the healthcare industry’s “golden age.”

The National Organization for Marriage quoted the IFI statement: “If same-sex ‘marriage’ becomes the law in Illinois, the ramifications for our children will be disastrous. We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines.”

The group is organizing an Oct. 23 rally at the Illinois House of Representatives against SB 10, the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act, which would legalize same-sex marriage.
