History was made at this weekend's Miss California USA pageant; for the first time an openly-lesbian contestant took part -- two, in fact. This leads to the question, should beauty pageant contestants have to reveal their sexuality?
The Los Angeles Times reports that 26-year-old Jenelle Hutcherson (below, left) and Mollie Thomas, 19 (right), were the first open lesbians to take part in the pageant in its 60-year history.
"I'm running for equality and will use this in order to promote visibility on current issues, to become a youth advocate and a role model," Thomas said.
Neither woman won, but their place in history is secure.
