In response to the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down Proposition 8's ban on gay marriage, Randy Thomasson of the anti-gay group, SaveCalifornia.com, is calling for his followers to find county clerks who will not marry same-sex couples in defiance of the ruling.
California Gov. Jerry Brown ordered county clerks to start processing gay marriage licenses on June 26 as soon as the Ninth Circuit Court lifted its stay on gay marriages, noted the Sacramento Bee.
"In light of the decision, I have directed the California Department of Public Health to advise the state's counties that they must begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in California as soon as the Ninth Circuit confirms the stay is lifted," Brown said in a statement.
On June 28, the Ninth Circuit Court "lifted its stay on an injunction which ordered state officials to stop enforcing Proposition 8. With the court's action, counties can now begin issuing same-sex marriage licenses," reported the Los Angeles Times.

However, Thomasson still believes county clerks can stop gay marriage in California, as stated in his recent e-newsletter, notes GoodAsYou.org.
In the e-newsletter, Thomasson wrote:
After consulting with principled, constitutional attorneys and doing my own study, it is clear that Proposition 8 is still the law, still enforceable and that handing out homosexual "marriage" licenses is illegal and unconstitutional.
But only a clerk who sues the state can stop what is happening. California's pro-family community needs to find one or more county clerks — who have "standing" in the eyes of the courts — who care more about the written state constitution, the voters, and real marriage, than they are afraid of pressure from Democrats Jerry Brown and Kamala Harris, who have tyrannically placed themselves above the Constitution by "ordering" all clerks to marry homosexuals.
I need your help to sensitize them to respect the constitution and the voters. We need to find one or more county clerks who believe in the exclusivity of man-woman marriage as well as his oath to abide by the state constitution, and who is not overwhelmingly afraid of liberal forces.
