Over 30,000 Petition For Cancellation of '19 Kids And Counting' Due To Anti-Gay Sentiment

Over 30,000 people have signed a petition on demanding TLC to cancel "19 Kids and Counting," claiming that the show’s cast promotes anti-gay sentiments.

Jim Wissick of San Jose, California, first created the petition in August. In his letter to The Learning Channel TV station, he asks: “End LGBTQ fear mongering by the Duggars. The Duggars have been using their fame to promote discrimination, hate, and fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people. You need to take a stand on the side of justice and cancel their show.”

The Duggars have recently been under fire for a Facebook post on the family page in which Duggar parents, Michelle and Jim, encouraged fans to post photos of them kissing their marital spouses. In the post they wrote: "God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun and romance. Marriage is where romance belongs!"

John Becker, who runs LGBTQ blog “The Bilerico Project,” decided to challenge the Duggars by posting a photo of him and his husband kissing. According to Becker, the photo was taken down from the comments section.

Wissick has included this incident in his petition along with a few other cited examples of the Duggars' LGBTQ discrimination. He reported that the family donated $10,000 to repeal equal housing rights for LGBTQ members and that Michelle Duggar recorded a robocall "warning Fayetteville residents that transgender people are child predators and that the law will somehow protect that predatory behavior.”

TLC recently cancelled “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” after information surfaced that Mama June’s new boyfriend was a convicted child molester. TLC has yet to release a statement on whether or not "19 Kids and Counting" will be another show cut from its channel.
