Christopher Beck served as a U.S. Navy SEAL all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

During his 20-year career, he earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

After retiring in 2011, Christopher Beck became Kristin Beck, and recently wrote about her experiences in a new book entitled Warrior Princess.

During an interview on Thursday night with CNN's Anderson Cooper, Kristen said she would buy lingerie on Valentine's Day as other men did for their wives, except she was buying it for herself (video below).

Kristen admitted that she worried about coming out as a transgender person while still in the SEALs: "There's a chance if they took it [badly] I may be dead today. It's hard to say what the reaction would be."

While her former comrades turned out to be supportive, she has received some angry reactions from strangers, noted the Daily Mail.

“That’s a fear I have right now. There is a lot of prejudice out there. There have been a lot of transgender people who are killed,” she said. "You don’t have to like me. I don’t care, but please don’t kill me.”
