Lesbian Boss Fired Gym Teacher Gregory Kenney Because He’s Straight?

A gym teacher has filed a lawsuit claiming his former boss at a pricey New York private school fired him because he’s heterosexual, married and has three children with his wife.

Gregory Kenney, 50, taught physical education for 16 years at Trinity School, a K-12 school on Manhattan’s Upper West Side where tuition is over $40,000 for each student per year.

Kenney was fired in June 2012 because Pat Krieger, the school’s gay athletic director, allegedly disliked him for his “traditional family status.”

According to the discrimination suit, Krieger tried to force Kenney to coach three sports even though his contract only mandates that he coach two teams.

When Kenney protested the heavy workload that would include extra nights and weekends because it would interfere from him spending time with his wife and children, Krieger wasn’t sympathetic, according to the claim.

“We all make choices,” Krieger said, according to the lawsuit.

Kenney alleges a “single, female teacher faced no scrutiny when she refused to coach a third season.”

The suit claims that Krieger had also previously dismissed three other married coaches with kids since taking over as athletic director since 2009. Kenney’s replacement is a gay female, the New York Daily News reports.

Kenney’s complaint also states that Krieger told him not to attend social events because he is a straight, older male with a wife and kids. He alleges that his former boss “routinely favored other single, younger females without children.”

“He felt ostracized, because of his family,” Kenney’s lawyer, Steven Morelli told the New York Daily News. Morelli says Kenney “certainly did the job well or they would have gotten rid of him a long time ago.”

The former coach is still looking for a new coaching job, according to the New York Post.

The Trinity School has yet to comment on the lawsuit.

The school is the alma matter to celebrities such as Truman Capote and Ivanka Trump.
