Fox News Reports Fake Story About Transgender Student Harassing Girls In High School Bathroom

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

Fox News reported a fake news story on Monday about girls being harassed by a transgender student in a Colorado high school bathroom.

Fox Nation promoted an article in the Daily Mail which stated: “The rights of a transgendered Colorado high school student are being put ahead of the girls the boy harasses in the girls bathroom.”

The article has since been pulled from the Daily Mail when the superintendent of the Florence school debunked the story. The story wasn’t based on actual events that occurred at the school, but rather one parent’s complaint against transgender students using the ladies room.

The false story was originally reported by the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).

“A male student at Florence High School who claims to be a transgender has been harrassing (sic) girls in the bathroom,” CBN reported Sunday. “When parents complained, school officials said the boy’s rights as a transgender trumped their daughters’ privacy rights.”

The conservative Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) said the girls at the school were told they would be kicked off sports teams if they didn’t stop complaining about the transgender students using the ladies room.

“We’re not going to stand by and let 99.7 percent of our students lose their privacy and free speech rights just because .3 percent of the population are gender-confused,” wrote PJI in a letter to the school.

“This is exactly the kind of horror story we have been warning would accompany the push for radical transgender rights in schools,” said attorney Matthew McReynolds, “and it is the type of situation that LGBT activits (sic) have been insisting would not happen.”

The school superintendent Rhonda Vendetti told The Transadvocate none of this ever happened.

“Nothing has actually been verified with us,” Vendetti said. “This is one parent basically bringing their viewpoint about this situation to the media because they weren’t getting the responses that they hoped they would get from the district, from parents of students at the high school, or from the board and myself.”

Vendetti said the parent wants to draw more attention to the story “in the hope of having a different outcome.”

“But to our knowledge and based on our investigation, none of those things have actually happened,” she said. “We do have a transgender student at the high school and she has been using the women’s restroom. There has not been a situation.”

After the alleged incident was investigated by the school, Vendetti told the Daily Record, law enforcement is conducting its own investigation.
