A Cleveland firefighter is under investigation for making anti-gay comments on a viral Facebook photo posted by the popular Humans of New York page, News Net 5 reports.
The photo of a 13-year-old boy in tears is captioned with his quote, "I'm homosexual and I'm afraid about what my future will be and that people won't like me."
There are more than 647,000 likes and nearly 60,000 comments on the post, including supportive words from presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, actor and activist George Takei and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsome of California.
While many comments encourage the boy, Guy Estergall, a 26-year veteran of Cleveland Fire Department, posted controversial words.

“This kid needs psychiatric help, he’s delusional. We need to find a cure for his kind!” Estergall commented.
“You’re mentally ill Andrew, just like this kid and the rest of the immoral homosexuals and their supporters,” he added.
“The overwhelming majority of pedophiles are homosexuals,” reads a portion of another comment added by Estergall. He later told the man he was arguing with, “stay away from kids you sicko!”
Estergall told News Net 5 that he was simply arguing with somebody on Facebook.

“He started name-calling, so I knew how to get his goat, so I did,” he said. “Was it childish? Sure. But this was Facebook; this was a nothing thing."
The Cleveland Fire Department launched an investigation as soon as they were aware of the situation. Spokesman Larry Gray told News Net 5 that they have never had a problem with Estergall before.
"This type of action, these type of statements are unacceptable, and we will not tolerate things like this," he said.
Cleveland residents rely on Estergall to put his life on the line to indiscriminately save others.
Apparently, Estergall regularly sounds off on Facebook, but this is the first time he has gotten into trouble. In May, Estergall made derogatory statements about black people in a News Net 5 comment section.
“The savages claim they want to kill white people?” he said, later adding, “we don't treat you like animals.... You ACT like animals!”
According to News Net 5, Estergall is still on payroll as the investigation unfolds.
