A recent article posted on, which is owned by the American Family News Network, is falsely attributed to the Associated Press.

The American Family News Network is owned by the anti-gay American Family Association.

The addition of the fake Associated Press byline credit may be a tactic by to give the anti-gay story more legitimacy.

According to "This follows One News Now's past shady practices regarding its AP wire usage, wherein the anti-LGBT 'news' outlet has added smear quotes to certain words, as well as altered other terms and context while retaining AP branding."

The fake Associated Press article blares the headline: "Pro-family activist: Transgender community copying success of homosexual movement."

Then the story quotes anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera, who is president of Americans For Truth about Homosexuality.

LaBarbera is upset because Dr. Heather Ann Clements, a professor at Azusa Pacific University, which is a Christian college, is coming out as a transgender after 15 years.

Clements, who now refers to himself as “H. Adam Ackley, Ph.D.” or “Heath Adam Ackley,” will be leaving the school in Azuza, Calif. by the end of the school year.

"So now you have this professor who seems to just want to test it a little further,” said LaBarbera in the fake Associated Press story.

“That's how the whole homosexual transgender movement progresses. It's always incremental. They take a step out. They gauge the reaction. And they do something more radical, more radical," added LaBarbera.

“They saw how the homosexual lobby has made this amazing progress in such a short time, in a few decades."
