Fox News: Trump Has Low Poll Numbers In First 100 Days

| by Ray Brown

In a new poll, Americans have mixed feelings about President Donald Trump's first 100 days.

According to Fox News, 45 percent of the poll respondents approve of his job so far. That's down slightly since he was sworn into office on Jan. 20, when he had a approval rating of 48 percent, and far below his two predecessors' 100-day rating, which saw President Barack Obama at 62 percent and President George W. Bush at 63 percent.

And although Trump's election victory was due largely to an intense desire for change in the country's electorate, only 43 percent of people believe he is "draining the swamp" as promised, while 50 percent believe he is failing.

Trump's strongest numbers are on terrorism and the economy.

The Fox News poll found that 51 percent of poll respondents approve of Trump's job on terrorism, while 43 percent disapprove and 6 percent do not have an opinion.

On the economy, 48 percent approve of Trump's performance so far, while 44 percent disapprove.

But on immigration, foreign policy, taxes and health care, more people disapprove of Trump's job performance than approve.

Trump ran largely on an anti-immigration platform and promised to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

On immigration, one of Trump's most controversial aspects of his campaign, 44 percent approve of his job performance 54 percent disapprove.

That's even though Attorney General Jeff Sessions claimed on Fox News that illegal border crossings have been reduced 70 percent during Trump's first 100 days.

"And we’re going to get it to zero and keep it there, and we’ll be proud of the new system that we have," Sessions told Fox News, according to Lifezette.

"I’ve made trips to Texas, Arizona, and California in the last two weeks. I’ve seen the border. We have millions of people crossing the border illegally constantly on a regular basis," Sessions added. "That’s not going to end. We’re not going to make it impossible for people to travel between our countries, but we’re going to end this illegality. We’re not going to stop until we get it done."

Trump's worst numbers came on health care.

Only 35 percent approve of his job performance, while 56 percent disapprove.

One of Trump's biggest losses during his first 100 days has been failing to get enough Republican votes to approve his American Health Care Act, promoted as the GOP alternative to the Affordable Care Act, the landmark health care legislation passed under Obama.
