Former Starbucks Barista Claims She Was Fired After Complaining About Sexual Harassment

Former Starbucks barista Holly Wu is suing Starbucks in federal court after she complained about sexual harassment and was fired for it.

Wu worked at a Starbucks in Midtown Manhattan as the shift manager. In February, she filed a formal sexual harassment complaint addressing the inappropriate behavior of her coworkers.

Wu stated that her coworkers often called her "big booty Holly" and touched her inappropriately. In one instance, a coworker brought pornography to work and showed it to her.

"It was very upsetting to work in that environment," Wu said.

According to Starbucks, Wu was fired when she asked an employee to work an extra 45 minutes. However, Wu maintains that the company refused to look into her complaint and then fired her for it.

A spokesperson for Starbucks noted that the company does not comment on pending lawsuits, but did say that it has a zero tolerance policy regarding sexual harassment.
