Florida Man Repeatedly Dials 911 Because New Apartment Doesn't Have Fridge

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

A Florida man repeatedly called 911 within a two-hour period to complain that his new Fort Walton Beach apartment didn’t include a refrigerator.

Police say Richard Wild, 60, threatened to continue calling until the issue was resolved.

Wild allegedly called emergency services between 12:45 pm and 2:20 pm on Sept. 5, the same day he moved into his new apartment, the New York Daily News reported.

He allegedly kept repeating that he was “upset” over “having food but no fridge.”

Police say he told county dispatchers that his phone “only called 911.” He insisted that he would keep calling 911 until he “received satisfaction” with his complaint about his landlord.

When police visited his Chestnut Avenue home they learned his property manager hadn’t installed a fridge in his unit yet.

Wild allegedly admitted that none of the calls were emergencies. He was arrested and charged with misuse of 911.

He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 23.
