Florida Man Installs Dishwasher, Electrocuted By Own Wedding Ring

| by Emily Smith

Florida man Jason Ferguson was killed on Thursday by his own wedding ring, after the band touched a live wire on a dishwasher the man had just installed for his relatives.

Ferguson was trying to set up the machine for his brother-in-law and sister-in-law at their home in South Daytona when he died. The 33-year-old had turned off the power in the room for most of the installation, but had left it on when he reached behind the dishwasher to investigate a “strange noise” it was making.

According to Albert Washington, Ferguson’s brother-in-law, Ferguson was investigating an exposed copper wire. Police noted that the ring touched the copper wire while Ferguson was leaning against the washer’s metal door.

Washington reported that Ferguson stopped moving and turned red as he knelt in front of the dishwasher. When he became unresponsive, the family called 911 and began performing CPR.

Ferguson’s wife, Deidre Obenshire, was at the home preparing dinner when her husband fell unconscious.

Ferguson was taken to the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Ferguson’s death has appeared to be a tragic accident and police do not suspect foul play.
