The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office said in a press release that the wheelchair-bound inmate put his feet down on the floor to stop Deputy Ferrio from pushing him to an infirmary, however, Deputy Ferrio put his arm around the inmate's neck, lifted him out of the wheelchair and dropped the man on the floor.
After the fall damaged the inmate's dentures, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office said that Deputy Ferrio struck the inmate with his fists and knees.
However, the inmate didn't threaten Deputy Ferrio who reportedly told investigators that he “got caught up in the moment” and that his use of force was not justified.
