A Texas father was able to locate the body of his missing son using cell phone coordinates.

Tony Beason said he knows the body found in a creek in Liberty City, Texas, is that of his son, 30-year-old Tommy Beason.

“I know by the scars, and I know by the birthmarks,” Tony said, reported Longview News-Journal. “That was my boy.”

Tommy was last seen on Oct. 27 and reported missing a few days later, according to Longview News-Journal. Tony said he’d been trying to locate his son for weeks, and believes that someone had been using his phone — making it possible for him to track it to its last location.

Officials have not yet confirmed that the body found in Little Caney Creek is, indeed, Tony’s son.

“[The person has] been dead for some time and the body is decomposed, so hopefully the autopsy would tell us some more [today],” Lt. Kirk Haddix said on Nov. 18, reported Longview News-Journal. “There were some identifying marks on the body, some possible identifying information, but it’s nothing that we can positively identify.”

Tony said that his son became involved with drugs about nine months prior to his death, according to Fox Carolina. He spoke to Tommy less frequently since learning of his drug problem.

“No matter how much you love them, whatever you teach them, sometimes they just don't listen,” he said, reported Fox Carolina. "I thought if I just cut him off, not do nothing with him and tell him straighten up, I mean, we did everything together, everything. Last four months I haven't even spoken to him.

“Just grab a hold of your kid. It's not the answer pushing him away.”
