A woman who reportedly ran over her father when he tried to stop her from driving drunk has been arrested.
Soukvilay Barton, 37, was at her family’s home in Riverside, California where witnesses report she had been drinking and arguing with family members.
Barton became upset and decided to leave the house in her BMW convertible.
Her father, Bounmy Rajsombath, 69, a veteran, tried to stop her from driving, but she got into her car that was parked in the garage anyway.
Rajsombath went outside to stand in the driveway in another effort to prevent Barton from driving.
Barton backed her car out of the garage and allegedly hit her father, reports KTLA.
Realizing she had struck and injured her father, Barton immediately stopped the vehicle.
Boston.com reports that Barton sat sobbing before being taken into custody.
Barton was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Her father was pronounced dead at Riverside Community Hospital.
