Video: Lightning Knocks Out WBZ-TV, Weatherman Todd Gutner Continues Forecast

| by Michael Allen

In Boston, a lightning strike briefly knocked out power to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 and WBZ-TV, leaving WBZ-TV weatherman Todd Gutner forced to finish his forecast in the dark (video below).

Gutner's microphone suddenly cut out with a quick burst of static and lights in the studio went out.

Gutner’s audio returned a short time later, but only his weather map remained lit.

Keeping his cool, Gutner continued his forecast: “We just took a potent lightning strike, probably right to the rooftop or to our transmitter."
