Mini Glacier Wave Rolls Into Minnesota (Video)

An ice wave rolled in from the south side of Mille Lacs Lake into the town of Onamia, Minnesota on Friday. The freezing wave was recorded on video (below) by a resident.

According to WPTV-TV, strong winds pushed the ice up to homes' doors and windows at a speed of two feet per minute.

The mini glacier's depth was one to three feet at the edge near the town houses and over 25 feet at the lake shore, reports

According to, Minnesota has colder-than-average temperatures for the month of May, which usually averages a minimum of about 47.6 degrees.
