A customer at a Chicago arts and crafts store was captured on video having a tantrum (video below).
The incident happened the day before Thanksgiving at a Michaels store, reports Chicago Patch. A video shot by customer Jessie Grady, titled “Racist White Woman Trump Rant in Chicago Store,” has received over 57,000 YouTube views since it was posted on Nov. 23.
At the checkout counter, the customer is seen vocally proclaiming she was being discriminated against because the cashier was allegedly trying to “force” her to buy a $1 reusable bag for larger purchases.
Grady had reportedly just finished checking out and was standing at the exit with her 2-year-old child when the angry customer, who is white, went on a “30-minute racist rant complete with yelling and cursing and repeated references to the fact that both employees were African-American."

Then she suddenly brought up the subject of the presidential election. “Yes, I voted for Trump, so there. You want to kick me out because of that? And look who won,” she yelled.
Grady said she decided to document the unfolding incident on video to provide proof in defense of the store’s employees. She wanted to “keep them from getting in trouble for no reason,” she said.
When the customer noticed that Grady was recording her, she angrily approached and said, “I don’t know what you think you’re videoing, lady. I was just discriminated against by two black women and you being a white woman and you literally thinking that’s OK. ... Why don’t you go home to your husband who’s cheating on you?”
Then she accused Grady’s 2-year-old child of stealing store merchandise, and began video recording the child. Following that, she aimed her cell phone camera at the cashier, asking rhetorically, “What, you don’t want to be videoed? You don’t want to be on TV?”

The African-American store manager politely asked the woman to stop using profanity, to which the woman responded, “Michaels is going to hear about this first thing Friday morning.”
The rant went on for 45 minutes, said Grady. She and about 10 other customers stayed and spoke to the police, who arrived after the woman finally left the store.
Grady has since launched a GoFundMe campaign for the benefit of the employee who was the primary target of the woman’s hostility. She explained the decision on the page:
I’d like to do something to try to make it up to the employee who was the main target of this racist attack. I’d like to show her that many people are horrified by how this woman treated her, and that we stand with her and appreciate her hard work. She inspired me because despite the hateful words that were being hurled in her direction, she stood in that entrance way calm and unmoving to protect her staff and customers ... In the current climate I believe it’s very important that we go out of our way to treat each other with dignity, kindness and politeness, and that we stand up for each other when we see people being mistreated.
