Students Create Video to Oppose Healthy School Lunches

| by Michael Allen

Some students at Wallace County High School in Sharon Springs, Kansas, have created a video (below) to express their hatred for new school lunch guidelines that limit calories and encourage good nutrition.

The video, based on the hit song 'We Are Young,' shows students staring at lunch trays, putting junk food in lockers and crawling on the ground in exhaustion, reports McClatchydc.com.

The lyrics of the parody song 'We Are Hungry' include: "Give me some seconds/I need to get some food today/My friends are at the corner store/Getting junk so they don’t waste away."

Kansas Rep. Tim Huelskamp had sympathy for the kids who didn't like healthy foods and told McClatchydc.com: “Here we are in the Wheat State … and I’ve heard some very sad stories recently about school lunches."
