Martha Corey-Ochoa, an 18-year-old high school valedictorian from Dobbs Ferry, New York, reportedly jumped to her death from the 10th-floor window of a Columbia University dorm, reports the Daily News.
The freshman died at St Luke’s Hospital after jumping from the dorm window at 11 p.m. Two other freshmen students found her lying in the road, the New York Post reported.
One student said: "We were walking down and we just saw her there."
The Dean of Student Affairs, Kevin Shollenberger, told students of the death in an email sent at 2:15am: "It's a time that our community needs to pull together and support one another."

Corey-Ochoa, who llived on the 14th floor of the dorm, had a history of mental health problems. She was decribed by friends as a polite, extremely intelligent and a high academic achiever who was taking undisclosed medications.
She left no note and there were no witnesses, reports the Journal News. Her father, George Ochoa, said: "I’m not sure if I’m ready to say anything at all about my daughter."
