Boston College is threatening disciplinary action against a student group called 'BC Students For Sexual Health' for giving away free condoms and sexual health information (video below).
Boston College administrators say the students' actions violate the school’s Catholic values, reports the Boston Globe.
BC Students For Sexual Health received a letter on March 15 from the college’s dean of students and director of residence life, which read, in part:
While we understand that you may not be intentionally violating university policy, we do need to advise you that should we receive any reports that you are, in fact, distributing condoms on campus, the matter would be referred to the student conduct office for disciplinary action by the university.
American Civil Liberties Union attorney Sarah Wunsch told CBS Boston that Boston College needs to “think about the state’s civil rights act and its applicability to private parties” before “threatening students with disciplinary action.”
