Mark Dice, who describes himself as an "author and activist," recently interviewed people on a beach in San Diego, California and asked them what Memorial Day was about. Amazingly, many could not tell him and seemed stumped (video below).

Memorial Day is a holiday in which Americans are supposed to recall and honor those who have died while serving in the United States military.

There is no indication when this video was recorded, but it was uploaded to YouTube on May 26, Sunday.

Some of the responses given to Dice included:

"I don't know, I'm not sure."

"I don't know what Memorial Day is, man. I don't think people from Chicago celebrate that thing, man."

"The only way I know it's Memorial Day is that I don't have to work and that's all I care about, dude."

Dice also told some other interviewees that Memorial Day was to commemorate the loss of surfers who have died, apparently to see if they would interject the true meaning.
