New Jersey cop, Pedro Abad Jr., posted a photo of bourbon shots to his Instagram account at midnight on Friday. Just a few hours later, at 4:51 a.m., his car was involved in a horrific crash which killed two of his passengers.
According to the New York Daily News, Abad Jr., 27, along with two other off duty officers and a fourth friend, were returning home from a night of partying at Curves gentleman club when their Honda Civic smashed head on into a big rig.
Officer Frank Viggiano, 28, and passenger Joseph Rodriguez, 29, were killed in the crash. Abdad Jr. and Officer Patrik Kudlac, 23, were critically injured.

Apparently, Abad Jr. was driving the wrong way down streets before the crash. He recklessly sped through “One Way” and “Do Not Enter” signs.
“I started thinking, wondering, Did he see the signs? Did he not see the signs? What was he doing?” said Ramzi Abedelhaq, a local gas station manager.
“Less than 10 minutes later, all I see is ambulances and I just kept thinking, Oh my God, I hope it’s not that guy that was going the wrong way."

Fellow officers of the Linden, New Jersey, police department were heartbroken by the news. Linden Police Capt. James Sarnicki said, “These officers were all relatively young, they’re relatively new to the force, they have a vast amount of energy, they were good police officers ... Our hearts go out to their families for what happened today.”
The police department is waiting on the results of the blood tests to determine if alcohol did in fact play a part in this devastating crash.
The Civic involved in the crash was torn to pieces and left completely unrecognizable. The driver of the big rig suffered minor injuries.
