A video shot in Kruger National Park in South Africa shows a man who appears to be drunk charging at a wild elephant.

The footage seems to depict an off-duty field guide acting aggressively towards the animal while some of his colleagues cheer him on.

When the footage went viral, Singita, a safari brand and conservation company, admitted that the footage was shot on one of its properties and that the man in the video was a staff member, The Daily Mail reported.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Singita said, “Disturbing video footage has spread through the social media arena over the past few days portraying a group of off duty field guides in a vehicle and one confronting an elephant on foot. The elephant was extremely agitated by the confrontation and retreated into the bush.”

The statement continues:

“We have conducted a thorough investigation into the content of this video and the appropriate disciplinary measures have been taken to address this incident. The guide involved in the confrontation is no longer employed by Singita and further disciplinary procedures are in progress with regard to others involved. We cannot stress enough that the behaviour displayed in this video completely contradicts Singita’s guiding ethos and values toward conservation and wildlife preservation.”
