Driver Reportedly Distracted By Dog Overturns Truckload Of Beer

A truck driver in Florida overturned his rig of beer cans on Aug. 11 and he blames his dog for the accident.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Gaskins, truck driver Malcolm Jamal Wilcox, 23, was driving southbound on Interstate 75 in Florida when his truck crashed into the center median. It then overturned, spilling cans of Budweiser Natural Light beer all over the road, reports Tampa Bay Times.

He claims his small dog distracted him, causing him to drift into the shoulder of the road. In an attempt to fix the situation, Wilcox overcorrected and crashed into the median, reports Land O' Lakes Patch.

Gaskins told reporters there were no injuries due to the crash. Wilcox was ticketed for careless driving.

Florida Highway Patrol officials closed the inside lane of the road for three hours while a crew cleaned up the spilled beer.

Many people took to the comment section of the story to voice their opinions on the incident.

“Was distracted by his dog running off the roadway and then overcorrecting,” wrote one user. “This is what happens when you let the dog drive.”

“Quite a lot of cirrhosis and DUI lying on that pavement,” another user wrote.
