Did Laura Ingraham Do A Nazi Salute At The RNC? (Video)

| by David Bonner

The speech delivered by right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham at the Republican National Convention on July 20 night was a big hit with the crowd gathered at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland (video below).

Other speeches at the convention have not gone over so well.

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, for example, was booed off the stage for refusing to endorse the Republicans’ chosen candidate, Donald Trump.

It is perhaps not surprising that Cruz did not proffer an endorsement, considering that during the primaries he denounced Trump as “utterly amoral,” “a pathological liar” and a "a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country has ever seen,” notes Vox.com.

But Cruz’s non-endorsement is a minor glitch compared to the firestorm of controversy generated by the speech given by Trump’s wife Melania, which was apparently plagiarized from Michelle Obama’s speech from four years earlier at the Democratic National Convention.

But Ingraham got things back on track with her attacks on the “liberal media.” The theme was reinforced by billboards in downtown Cleveland, featuring the familiar slogan “Don’t Believe the Liberal Media” -- referring presumably to the six giant multinational corporations that own most of the media in the United States.

General Electric, Newscorp, Disney, Viacom, Time Warner and CBS control 90 percent of the U.S. media, according to the Business Insider.

In one of the most amusing moments of her speech, Ingraham spoke directly to the journalists gathered in the crowd, reports the Daily Mail:

To all my friends -- they're way up there -- in the press. I see you! Hello! Hello! To all my friends up there in the press: You all know why, in your heart, Donald Trump won the nomination. You know it. You know why he won it? Because he dared to call out the phonies, the frauds, and the corruption that has gone unexposed and uncovered for far too long. Too long! Do your job!

Her media taunt drew a standing ovation that “lasted a full 45 seconds,” the Daily Mail notes.

The conclusion of her speech was accompanied by a hand gesture that some observers have noted was strikingly similar to the infamous Sieg Heil Nazi salute.
