Two sisters were reportedly shot dead by their mother in Katy, Texas, June 24 after a family argument. One of the women was set to be married on June 27.

Taylor Sheats, 22, and Madison Sheats, 17, both died from gun shot wounds allegedly inflicted by Christy Sheats, 42, Daily Mail reported.

Taylor was a college student and was set to marry her fiance Juan Sebastian Lugo June 27.

The shooting reportedly occurred after Christy called the family together for a meeting inside their home.

During the meeting, she pulled out a gun and shot Madison and Taylor. Both women tried to escape with their father, Jason Sheats. But Madison collapsed in the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taylor was airlifted to a local hospital, where she died.

Christy attempted to shoot Jason, who escaped after a neighbor opened their door to let him in.

"She went to shoot but had run out of bullets," the neighbor told the Mail. "When she went to reload Jason ran into our house and said 'Call 911.'"

"Christy had stabbed the girls before she shot them," a neighbor added.

"I looked out and I saw her standing over one of the girls with the gun pointed at her and she shot her as she lay on the ground," they said.

Police officers reportedly arrived after Christy shot Taylor for a third time. They urged Christy to drop her weapon. But after she refused, an officer fired his weapon and killed the woman.

Lugo’s sister paid tribute to Taylor and her family.

“Yall were part of our family, and that will never change," wrote Maria Lugo on Facebook, according to the Mail. "The greatest in laws any one could ever have, and the sweetest, most wholesome and caring girls in my life."

Catherine Knowles, a friend of Christy, was taken aback by the shooting.

"This is not the Christy that I know," Knowles told KTRK. “It's just not. I thought it was the wrong person. It had to be.”

A police statement confirmed officers had been called to the Sheats’ property 14 times since 2012, the Mail notes. However, the statement did not elaborate on the reasons for the calls.

KTRK reported that Christy previously had mental health problems.

“I couldn’t imagine anything in her life that would have made her snap,” Knowles added. “Your own children, I don’t know what could possibly go through someone’s head.”
