A Minnesota State Trooper’s dashboard camera captured the moment he pulled over an 8-year-old boy who drove his two younger siblings more than 14 miles in April.

Police responded to a call about an erratic driver on Highway 36 during morning rush hour, KSMP reported. Fellow commuters couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw who was behind the wheel.

“I was like that can't be true, that's can't be true… Something is wrong,” Eric Brown, a driver who witnessed the boy's driving, told KSMP at the time, adding that the child could barely see over the steering wheel.

“There were two cars in front of him,” Brown added. “The turn lane was red, he stopped. The first two cars turned, he turned, and then I turned right with him.”

Trooper Kyle Klawiter caught up to the boy in Moundsview. The boy turned into a random driveway and backed into the police car before pulling forward to park.

The dashcam shows the officer approach the vehicle and question the boy before the boy steps out in his pajamas. He is seen grabbing his belongings from the trunk, which he had packed in a garbage bag.

The boy had driven from St. Paul to Moundsview, which is a roughly 14-mile trek.

Police said the boy's 3-year-old brother and his 5-year-old foster sister were in the vehicle at the time, both not wearing seatbelts. It is still unknown at this time why the boy went on a joyride and where he was heading.
