A Florida father who was allegedly coaching his son at a skate park was caught on camera kicking the 6-year-old boy down a ramp.
The man, indentified as Marcus Crossland, appeared frustrated with his son, who was hesitating at the top of the vertical pipe in Kona Skate Park in Arlington.
In the video, taken by another boy at the skate park, Crossland can be seen kicking his son from behind. The child cries out in pain after falling several feet. He was not injured.
Ryan Stephens, 13, said he confronted Crossland after he witnessed the incident.
Popular VideoThis judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:
“I asked him why is he doing this, and then he said ‘because he needs to learn,’” Stephens said. “I was like, ‘Pushing him down is not teaching him how to drop in.’”
Angry over the incident, Stephens got a copy of the video and posted it on Instagram.
According to him Crossland wasn’t apologetic until he was thrown out by the park operator.
“Unfortunately, parents get so enthusiastic about their kids and their abilities in skateboarding, or baseball, or football, or whatever, and sometimes they take it a little too far,” the park’s operator, Martin Ramos, told First Coast News.
Ramos says he threw Crossland out of the park.
“[Crossland] said he was just caught up in the moment,” Ramos said. “He seemed very remorseful. He certainly understands the gravity of the situation and it seems like he is going to be answering to this thing for quite some time to come.”
