A Florida man rejected his girlfriend's sexual advances, and her reaction was unexpectedly violent.
Yanilca Ortiz-Burgos, 37, stabbed her boyfriend in the stomach with a knife in the presence of three children when he refused to have sex with her, according to Volusia County police.
Jose Vega-Hernandez told police that his girlfriend had been drinking all night and came into his bedroom looking to have sex with him. He declined, telling her that he was too tired, according to police. She then jumped up on him and when Vega-Hernandez pushed her away, she allegedly attacked him with a knife.
The three children present during the attack were ages 9, 10 and 17, the arrest report notes.
When deputies arrived, the couple was outside of their house, The News-Journal reported. The 17-year-old boy was trying to break up the couple’s fight.
Ortiz-Burgos was arrested and charged with child abuse and aggravated battery on a person with a deadly weapon.
Vega-Hernandez told the News-Journal Online that he would not be pressing charges, but he hopes that Ortiz-Burgos gets help.
“One thing is certain,” Vega-Hernandez said, “the relationship is over.”
