A Las Vegas police officer is being lauded for his good deed after it was photographed and posted on social media.
Dorothy Ortiz was driving to work during rush hour, singing to Mariah Carey, when a trooper started tailing her on one of the city's main streets. He followed Ortiz into a parking lot, where she stopped.
"I was driving to work and I noticed an officer following me," says Ortiz.
He asked her to lower her window.

“I just figured, he’s going to give me a ticket for something,” she explained.
“And that’s when he told me I had a flat tire,” says Ortiz. “I just figured the officer was going to keep driving.”
But instead of driving away, the officer started changing her tire, reports WDAF.
“That’s when I realized, Wow. There really are good people out there.”

"It was like shares, after shares, after shares," she says.
She shared the image on Facebook and her post went viral with thousands of likes and shares.
"They do not get recognition,” Ortiz told KSNV.
When contacted by the press, the officer wanted to remain anonymous and didn’t want any attention. He said he was simply doing his job.
“Thank you very much,” says Ortiz. “I really appreciate it. Everyone told me I could’ve gotten into a car accident.”
"At the end of the day, he did save my life."
